Drop-Off/Pick-Up Procedures At Blaine Primary 2016-2017
With the new construction completed and school ready to start we have looked at our drop off and pick up locations and procedures, here are the changes and what will stay the same.

We will continue the same drop off procedures that we had last year; Parents may drop off their children in the south parent parking lot or in the upper parent/staff parking lot. Students will walk around the enclosed play area and in through the back main door.

In the afternoon parents may park in the same locations, students will line up in the back part of the enclosed play area.
At 2:50 when students arrive the doors will be opened so that parents can pick up their child(ren). Again we ask that you do not come to the classrooms as we are instructing our students and completing ending routines. All staff and students will be walking to the enclosed covered play area.

There is no drop off or pick up in front of the school from 7:45 AM-8:30 AM and 2:30 PM til 3:10 PM.
We appreciate your cooperation with these procedures so that we can enclosure student safety.
THANK YOU! BPS Staff

SUMMER BREAK

Welcome To Our 2016-2017 Year At BPS!

We are so excited for the start of this year and the many new additions at the primary school. Our new POD is completed and staff has started to move in. The students and staff are so appreciative of the community support in the many changes we are experiencing. The New POD is beautiful, giving us the space we need to support full time kindergarten. Having the opportunity to provide full time kindergarten to our beginning students is thrilling. Our kindergarten students will have a solid foundation, supporting their learning for the next twelve years. Our kindergarten teachers spent last year researching best practices through the “Washington State Full-Day Kindergarten Guide”. This enabled the kindergarten staff to build upon their current knowledge and strengthen our program. With going to full time we have added two new teachers to the kindergarten team, Mrs. Kim Baker and Mrs. Linsey Pike. We are excited to welcome our first full time kindergarten class!

In addition to our new POD we have a great new music room, which was formally the small covered play area. Our music program now has the space and the ability to be as loud as needed to practice the many music skills our students need to learn and experience. Our last project to be completed this summer is our covered play area, which is now enclosed. There are large garage doors to allow this space to be used as an instructional area along with recess during inclement weather.

On behalf of the primary school students, staff, families and the Blaine School District Board of Directors, we are excited to show off the new POD and additions to the primary school. We will be hosting tours in September, please watch the Northern Light for the dates and times. We hope you can come and celebrate with us.

We are very pleased to introduce our new staff that will be working with your children this year: Mrs. Amy Weeda and Mrs. Robin Thompson will be teaching first grade. Also joining us this year is Mrs. Marti Dimock who will be teaching Music and Motion with Mrs. Shari Akers and Mrs. Shannon Nevarez.

The main goal of the educational team at Blaine Primary School is to create a positive learning environment that promotes and encourages increased understanding and fluency in literacy and math. We are developing the foundational learning blocks for all our students to grow academically, socially, and emotionally and become life-long learners.

Blaine Primary School has a wonderful PTO (Parent, Teacher, Organization) that supports many activities throughout the school year. We would like to invite anyone interested in helping with school activities during the day and afterschool to please join us at our first PTO Meeting Tuesday, September 6th at 6:00 PM in the primary school library. There will be childcare in the MPR.

Blaine Primary School invites you to come visit us & volunteer whenever possible as it takes all of us to support our children! If you are interested in volunteering this school year, please stop by the office and pick up a volunteer packet. We truly appreciated parent/community volunteers.

If you have any questions please feel free to contact our staff by email at anytime during the school year; just type the first initial of their first name and their entire last name then @blainesd.org:  for example my e-mail address is: nbakarich@blainesd.org You can also call before school, (7:50 AM to 8:10 AM) and after school, (2:50 PM to 3:20 PM) 360-332-1300.
