Seeking Candidates for Vacant School Board Position 

 Submission Deadline: January 21, 2022 at 4:00 p.m.

 On Tuesday, December 14, the Blaine School District Board of Directors took formal action to accept the resignation of fellow board member Laura McKinney. The board is now initiating solicitation of interest in the vacated position.

 There are a total of five directors in the Blaine School District, each representing a specific geographical area. The vacated position represents Director District 5, which is generally located in the areas of Semiahmoo, Selder, and other neighborhoods south of the railroad crossing. The updated director district boundariesfor Blaine School District, which were adopted by the board on December 14, are available for view on our website.

 Any resident of Director District 5, who is a US citizen and registered voter, may submit a letter of interest for this vacancy. The letter should be addressed to the Board of Directors and should describe the candidate’s interest in serving on the board, including any prior experience, qualifying factors and their goals as a potential board member. Letters of interest can be submitted by email to comments@blainesd.org or in hard copy to Blaine School District at 765 H Street; Blaine, WA 98230. The submission deadline is 4:00 p.m. on Friday, January 21, 2022.

 The Board of Directors will establish a schedule to interview candidates and will ultimately vote on the appointment of a new director to serve until the next local election in November of 2023. At that time, the appointed director (and any other interested candidates) may run for the balance (final two years) of the current four-year term.
